Orlando (AP) – In yet another racially charged incident that will likely embroil the country for weeks if not months to come, a central Florida property owner shot and killed three alleged assailants early this morning in a scene reminiscent of many of the recent “stand your ground” defense cases.
Early this morning, Orlando home owner Lucky the Leprechaun, 53, says he was standing in his driveway drinking his coffee when he was approached from all sides by three young assailants who he says intended to kidnap and rob him.
“They’re always after me lucky charms,” the Leprechaun told reporters at a press conference held this afternoon in the presence of his lawyers. While no charges have officially been brought against him at this time, Orlando Police Captain Chet Frierson said that police are investigating the deaths of the three assailants, who he identified as “extreme minors.”
“At this time there are still unanswered questions about the crime scene,” Capt. Frierson said. “We’ve never seen anything like this before.”
According to witnesses, the attackers approached the Leprechaun with a net, a length of rope, and a cereal bowl and spoon. While no one could say just what started the altercation, everyone at the scene reported having heard the Leprechaun screaming about yellow moons, green clovers, red balloons and gold stars before shots were fired.
